Halloween is fun because you know someone might be waiting behind the door to make you jump, and you open it anyway, laughing. A first visit to a sauna tends to work the other way round. You feel a little wary before you open the door, and you would rather know what is on the other side first. If you are in Macau for Halloween weekend and want your first Macau sauna to be part of the trip, the door at The Excellent Sauna is on the tenth floor of the Grand Emperor Hotel. Nothing behind it is there to startle you. What is there is a stretch of time in which someone is looking after you from start to finish.

The manager brings the therapists to you

The Excellent Sauna is on the Macau Peninsula. There is no stage show here. Instead, the manager introduces the therapists to you in person. You tell the manager which series on the menu you would like, and the manager asks the multinational therapists on shift to come and meet you, one at a time, face to face. Once you have seen them, you tell the manager which one you have chosen.

What the hour includes

What a first-timer most wants to know is what the hour actually includes. Plainly: a private room, the therapist you chose in person, one to one, doing the series you named to the manager. A soft-style massage, for example, is 60 minutes. The add-ons are not part of the hour; they come afterwards, on a recliner. Guests who have been to The Excellent rate it highly, so a first visit is in safe hands.

Afterwards, a seat on the recliners

Once the hour is done, you can settle into one of the recliners in the lounge. The add-ons are done right there on the recliner by a different masseuse, and you decide what to have after you sit down and look at the list: back scrub, hand massage and manicure are all on it. If you feel like closing your eyes, the recliner is the place to rest. The Excellent is open until 04:00 and has no overnight stay, and a private rest room is available for a fee during opening hours.

Opening hours and prices (as of October 2026)

The Excellent Sauna is on the tenth floor of the Grand Emperor Hotel, and its opening hours are 12:00 to 04:00. Therapists are on shift from 12:00 to 04:00.

On the October 2026 menu, the prices we list run from MOP 1,299 to 5,588, and the soft-style massage group (green, white, silver, purple) is MOP 2,988 to 3,988. Both the 5% service charge and the 5% tourism tax sit inside these prices, so the figure you see is what you pay. Full details are available when you book. Prices follow the venue’s current menu and may vary by service, duration and time of day, with the current menu confirmed when you book.

What first-timers want to know

If you are wondering when the hour starts, it starts when the therapist begins the massage, and the time before that is not counted. If you are wondering whether you need to explain who you are at the door, you do not, because your booking reaches the venue before you do.
